Understanding history really matters
I found this episode about American Jewish relationship to the Black community not just provocative but incredibly valuable to bridging my own inter-generational discussion within my own family. I acknowledge that my version of the history of Black-Jewish relations was rooted in many of the myths that permitted a complacency with respect to this time in history; I have been engaged by the interviewee’s perspectives. My daughters (educated at Jewish camps and trips to Israel) are deeply invested in supporting the BLM movement’s aims and want to engage the Jewish community in social justice. This podcast episode provides some of the intellectual tools to build that dialogue and allowed me the opportunity to better understand my own internal dissonance. Well done.
Will be 5 stars when he can control his Trump obsession
Great show, great interviews, great material. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is that the host allows his fixation on Donald Trump to distract from the subject, sometimes multiple times per interview. He keeps seeking out ways to connect Trump to historical subject matter where no valid connection whatsoever exists. Otherwise, very well done, very informative, & great interview guests. Yasher koach!
